Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between PNG and JPG?
JPG uses lossy compression and is ideal for photos: smaller file sizes, no transparency. PNG is lossless and supports transparent backgrounds, better for logos and graphics.
Why should I use WebP?
WebP produces files 25โ35% smaller than JPG at the same quality. It's the modern standard for web images and is supported by all major browsers.
Will converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. Converting from a lossy format (JPG) to lossless (PNG) will not recover lost detail. It only preserves what's already there, and increases file size.
Does the tool support HEIC or RAW files?
Not currently. The converter supports PNG, JPG, and WebP. For HEIC files from iPhone, most devices can export as JPG in the camera settings.
Is my image sent to a server?
No. All format conversion happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your files never leave your device.
